PAPA SOPES!



I just want to wish Josh a Happy First Father’s Day from the Soper clan! We couldn’t survive without him, literally I think I would have killed the whole family by now, not on purpose of course but I often find my blonde tendencies getting in the way of survival. For example, there was the time that I completely forgot to feed Hobson and only realised he was hungry when I couldn’t figure out what that noise was in the bed, oh yeah, it was Hobson’s stomach growling, that’s when Josh took over the responsibility of feeding the dog. Then there was the time that I left Cyril in his chair only to come back into the living room to see him hanging off of it screaming, he decided he wanted to roll over way early. Or the time I got hopelessly lost in the back country only to be rescued by a sketchy guy in a minivan, after that ordeal Josh taught me how to read a map and compass. I’m pretty sure I could write a novel about all the times I screwed up and Josh came to the rescue. Needless to say we've been through our ups and downs but the one thing that has never changed is our love for one another and our family, we go through everything together and I mean EVERYTHING, without going into any detail at all we had to laugh the other night at how our relationship has changed, god he literally knows everything about me, I swear you lose all dignity after labour!

Two Months

I can hardly believe my sweet baby is already two months old, it's seems like a lifetime ago that I was sleep deprived, depressed, and in excruciating pain, not to freak anyone out that is about to have a baby! I've actually been meeting up with some new mums and one of the girls had a really easy labour and didn't struggle at all to breastfeed, in fact she was out and about with her baby girl 3 days after she was born. I wish I could say the same, fortunately Cyril and I have made tremendous progress since then and I have one well behaved and content baby, well most of the time. On Sunday a group of girls and I went to a friend's house for a Baby Calm Workshop and Cyril was very content the whole 4 hours, smiling and interacting for a good portion of the time, and sleeping in my arms the rest of the time. From the books I have been reading since Cyril was born I didn't feel the workshop really benefited me, especially since Cyril is already sleeping 7

Nearly Halfway There, Yikes!

Well life just seems to be getting ahead of us at the moment.  I swear I need another full day every week just to get caught up on the growing list of things I need/want to do before Baby Soper arrives. Technically I was 19 weeks last Friday but Josh and I have been far too busy, and with the nights closing in on us we had to move the chalkboard photography indoors, otherwise I would have taken my 19 weeks photo this weekend, outdoors, but then I would have already been 20 weeks! ABOUT ME How far along? 19 weeks and 6 days Total weight gain/loss? From 133 (pre-pregnancy) to 141 for a total of 8 pounds! Maternity clothes? Yes and no.  Maternity clothes are more comfortable but I still fit into some of my pre-pregnancy outfits. The skinny pink  corduroys  are a definite no no however, and so is my itty bitty bikini, which means I'll be wearing a maternity bikini in Tenerife and looking like a beached whale! Stretch Marks? Bad Ass Baby Soper

                                   VS             This Rad Hat                                These Bodysuits                          I think the decision is obvious                               While perusing several "baby friendly" websites to get an idea of what the little guy might need once he is born I came to the conclusion that cute  bad ass boys clothes are few and far between.  I would call Josh over to have a look at a few potentials, and his response was always "Eh, not really bad ass enough for our child, don't they have any surfy stuff."  I always commented about how many adorable and stylish options there were for girls but how the boys department never stacked up, I mean grown up men wear fashionable clothes and they're not all baby blue with donkeys and giraffes all over the place.  I know it's a baby, but come on people, no child of mine is going to be caught dead in this  I'm Cute Dinosaur Romper .  So I continued my search,
