13 Month Update

What we've been up to:

My mom was just in the UK visiting from Massachusetts so we spent a week in Devon surfing, soaking up the rays, exploring the countryside and enjoying some yummy food and wine. We stayed in a thatched cottage and went to the beach for long walks daily. I caught some amazing waves at Saunton, my mom caught the stomach flu, Cyril caught the walking bug, Hobson caught a small dog and tried to eat it (only joking), and dada didn't get caught doing anything out of the ordinary ;)

Outside the thatched cottage, weather was amazing!

"Awww, Ha Ba"

No lack in confidence in this boy!

What we're up to right now:

Now that my friends are more or less back to work part-time, and Cyril is on a pretty regular schedule, I've decided to add a few more classes to our plate. It's always a balancing act for me, on more than one occasion I signed up for a block of classes only to discover that Cyril wasn't really interested in them. On other occasions I've signed up for classes at the wrong time and we end up leaving early because he's hysterical since he's missed his morning nap. Since the classes cost £5-£8/session and we go to 4-5 classes a week it can really add up quickly. However, he's not at nursery so I feel it's imperative that we do something a little different each day that I wouldn't have the opportunity to do with him at home.

Cyril's classes, if you're interested in joining any let me know :)

Monday- Pyjama Drama at 930 in Penrith
Tuesday- GymBabes (gymnastics for babies) in Penrith at 3pm
Wednesday- Creation Station at Belah in Carlilse at 11:15 they do lots of painting and wet play
Thursday- Swimming at Orton Grange at 11am
Friday- We meet up with our 3 best friends around Cumbria, location depends on the weather

New Achievements:

Cyril is walking!! Josh's mum bought him his first shoes, who knew something so little could cost so much. Unfortunately, I think Cyril caught the California barefoot bug from his mama and dada because he definitely prefers going without shoes. He is fascinated by the laces and will walk in them when he's holding my hand.

Getting his first shoes, he's clearly thrilled!
Mr. Big head fits in his 4 year old cousin's hat!

New Words:

Hobson but he says HaBa
Got/what's that, not sure what word he's saying but he points at whatever it is and says GA!

Favourite Foods:

Cyril is an ethnic eater just like his parents and he's obsessed with curry, chicken pad thai, and just about anything Mexican. I've tried giving him traditional British food and he just throws it on the ground. Other favourites are blueberries, grapes, dried fruit, butternut squash, yogurt, porridge with coconut and chia seeds, avocados, and right now he likes cucumber. He'll fit right in with the Karas clan and their interesting food combinations the next time we're all together.

Best Friends:

Hobson and Rabby. He follows Hobson around the house saying "Awww Haba" and then buries his face in his fur, usually Hobson gets up and walks away while Cyril gets dragged behind him. Rabby has been a favourite since Christmas and he sucks his tongue every time you mention her name.

Cyril loves Hobson and crawling in the mud on rocks, proud mummy moment!
One thing Cyril is not lacking is confidence and personality. He climbs on everything and into everything and he never stops talking and laughing. He's only grumpy and angry when he's tired or if he can't figure out how to do something. He makes us laugh everyday and we just love him so much.
